Dr. O’Brien completed three years of undergraduate biology at the University of Victoria before going on to graduate with distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Irene has been with our Scottsdale team since graduation and enjoys the challenges of small animal medicine and surgery. Her desire to help clients raise happy, well adjusted puppies has led to the development of the puppy socialization classes which are held on an ongoing basis.

Dr. O'Brien's first dog Sadie passed away in March of 2009 at nearly 15 years of age. She had a great life aided by wonderful medications like Metacam for arthritis and the Medi-Cal mobility diet.

Rodney (a Basenji cross) is currently enjoying the company of his three cats, Gaius, Eragon and Emmet. When not at work, Dr. O'Brien enjoys spending time renovation her house with her husband Daniel and taking Rodney on local outings.
